Shooting Star

I've never been this far away

From where I used to be,

Wandering the open road

Away from you and me.

Each horizon clings to you

And holds your silhouette -

Distinctively your outline stands

Though details I forget.

I'm drawn to you from time to time

As yet I pull away -

Forever's ever shorter now,

Pursued without delay.

In moments weakened by the heart

I dream of our parade,

The marching bands and majorettes

And music that we played.

Shooting stars across the sky,

A candle and his flame -

To Juliet and memories

That passed before they came.
