I Miss You When It Rains

It's raining in New Jersey

There's no one at the shore

The sky is dark and lonely

And all it does is pour.

The thunder from the distance

Rumbles at my door

  Rivulets on window panes

I miss you when it rains.

The sky is uninviting

It whispers in my ears

Beyond the dark clouds drifting

Loneliness and fear.

Abandoned streets are empty

The alleyways are clear

  Gathering in the storm drains

I miss you when it rains.

Desolate, deserted,

Beneath the clouds that rise

Above the pools of water

Reflecting in my eyes.

Vanquished by the darkness

The sunshine's in disguise

  Whirling 'round the weather vanes

I miss you when it rains.

It's raining in New Jersey

The sunshine's in disguise

A thousand tiny tear drops

Falling from the skies.

Lightening lifts the veil,

A moment lives and dies;

  Indelibly the memory stains -

I miss you when it rains.
